My Thoughts
For the best in contemporary romance, Becky Wade
delivers every single time. I could never pick a favorite book because whatever
I’m reading at the time is best, and that’s surely the case with Becky’s
newest, Falling for You. In fact, it
presented me with a conundrum … should I quickly read this story that totally captivated
me, or proceed at a slower pace, so as to enjoy these characters longer and not
miss a single nuance?
I really had no choice but to choose the latter because Falling for You is that good – and because of that, I haven’t quite finished. But I can say that there is rich characterization, complexity, and humor in this multi-layered story that builds on a previous relationship between Willow and Corbin. As the children of parents who had abandoned them, both are such lovingly flawed characters! Willow’s actions are fueled by her efforts to gain love by being the “good” daughter, and Corbin can’t resist her calm confidence. Corbin was “a veteran at every pleasure the world had to offer” and, in the beginning, “was about as trustworthy as a toddler with a permanent marker.”
Wade is a master at blending description with humor. Here’s just one example in this scene where Willow sees Corbin’s home for the first time: “His home was seducing her the way cream seduced cats … It whispered to her, this house. It spoke of history, style, and spaces that waited for children.”
Twelve-year-old Charlotte stole my heart as she convinced Willow and Corbin to help investigate a “cold case” disappearance in her family. The relationship between Corbin and his dad adds another emotional theme to the story. And the beauty of God’s grace is present on every page.
Falling for You is an outstanding story in every way and I hope we’ll see Britt’s story soon.

About the Author
Becky’s a California native who attended Baylor University, met and married a Texan, and settled in Dallas. She published historical romances for the general market before putting her career on hold for several years to care for her three children.
