My Thoughts

For pure enjoyment – romance, family drama, and a ruggedly beautiful setting – it just doesn’t get any better than the Rocky Mountain Cowboys series. Karen Rock knows how to weave stories that are not only fun to read, but have characters so endearing that you never want the series to end. There’s good character development throughout, but each story easily stands alone.

 A Cowboy’s Pride pulled me in with its beautiful cover – and while covers don’t always deliver what they promise, this one certainly does. Enter Cole Loveland, in a moving opening scene where a newborn calf will soon freeze to death if not accepted by its mother. Then there’s his former love, Katlynn (formerly Katie-Lynn), who shed not only her name, but her rural Colorado roots in an effort to be successful in the eyes of others. The chemistry between these two is off the charts, and I loved the country line dancing scene early on.

 As if that wasn’t enough, there’s also the longstanding Cade/Loveland feud that’s been hovering in the background previously, but now takes center stage. The uneasy truce that’s in place as Boyd Loveland and Joy Cade prepare to marry is exactly that – uneasy. The history of this feud as it’s explored by Katlynn is fascinating.

 I loved this story, as well as the whole series, and hope it continues for a long time.

 Highly recommended.
