Germany Trip - Part 1

In March of this year, I was privileged to visit Beth and Daniel in Germany.  Beth leads a campus ministry at Tubingen University and Daniel is working on his doctorate degree at Heidelberg University.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was clearing Customs in Frankfurt and receiving Beth's welcoming hug on the other side.  After a quick cappucino and apple pastry (a German specialty), we boarded a train for Heidelberg and spent the day with Daniel.

Streets in Old Town Heidelberg
In the summer, boxes filled with colorful flowers will hang from
many of these windows, but the buildings are still beautiful in winter.

Street musician
You will often see street musicians in the Old Town, and they are very good.
This violinist was playing "Nearer My God to Thee."

Daniel in American Studies building, Heidelberg University
A blend of the old and new . . . a new, modern section was added
to an older existing building.

Beautiful Protestant cathedral in the Old Town

Sidewalk cafe
Even in cold weather, people like to dine outside.
Notice fur-lined chairs and blankets.

Window display, Heidelberg
If there was a window display contest, Heidelberg would win hands down.
