My "Best of" List for 2013 -- Non-Fiction Edition

Best of Books

Welcome to the Best Of Books Blog Hop 2013 – hosted by Diane Estrella, an enthusiastic blogger who does a lot to promote other bloggers, as well as books. Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing the best books I read during 2013 in both fiction and non-fiction categories, and also the books I most anticipate reading in 2014.

Be sure to check out the links to other bloggers' lists at the bottom of this post.

I read 12 non-fiction books this year - more than I usually read, but not as many as I would like. Here are my top 5 picks, along with links to my reviews:

Power in the Blood of Christ
By Jennifer Kennedy Dean

Jennifer is one of the best Bible teachers I've come across, and I don't believe I've ever seen a study on the powerful subject of the blood of Christ. This is a life-changing study, highly recommended.

_______________

Daily Reflections on the Names of God
By Ava Pennington

Ava's devotional focuses on a subject that I can never get enough of - God's names and characteristics - for what better way is there to know all that God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit mean in our lives? For the new Christian and seasoned believer alike.

_______________

Where God Finds You
By Anita Higman

Anita's devotional is unusual in the way she combines short fictional pieces with meditations and thought-provoking questions.

_______________

Experiencing God's Presence
By Linda Evans Shepherd

Linda has written an excellent book on the topic of prayer and intimacy with God, easy to follow and with an emphasis on personal application.

_______________

The One Year Book of Amish Peace
By Tricia Goyer

Tricia beautifully weaves Amish beliefs and traditions into unique meditations that are very interesting and effective for reflection.

_______________

Have you read any of these? If you read non-fiction, what are some books that would go on your "best of" list?

  2. Thanks for stopping by, Diane, as well as for all you do to encourage other bloggers. Most of my non-fiction reading is in the Christian living or devotional-type reading.
