Top Ten Tuesday - 12.30.2014

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Bookish/Blogging Goals for 2015

1) Reading the Bible is more important than any blogging or review commitments, so my goal is to join with an online group and do a chronological read through in 2015.

2) Commit to less reviews so I can read more of what I'm in the mood for occasionally.

3) Read a non-fiction book every now and then, like . . .

4) Share more of Erma Bombeck's humor on my blog. Got a great response to my Christmas-themed posts and hope to continue this through the year.

5) Interview more authors. I've discovered that this is something I really enjoy, and I've met some very kind and gracious authors in the process.

6) Be more involved in the Christian Fiction Devourers group on Goodreads and participate in a few group or buddy reads there as time allows.

7) Whittle down my pile of review books already committed to on NetGalley - My eyes are bigger than my stomach, as my grandmother used to say - especially when it comes to books! Since these books don't have a blog tour deadline, they don't get top priority.

8) Do occasional posts featuring beautiful art. I had so much fun with Christmas art during December that I'd like to do this on a regular basis.

9) Read or reread a few classics, like . . .

10) Participate in more Top Ten Tuesday lists!

Do you have any reading goals for 2015? Please share if you do!

    1. Thanks, Chrissi . . . I think I'm becoming addicted to lists, though! Seriously, it's not that I don't enjoy what I'm reading, but I used to read a lot of other good, clean books - like cozy mysteries - and I miss them.

  3. Love your goals. Reading the Bible more and signing up for less reviews resonates with me too. Have a happy New Year!

    1. Now if only I can do both of those, Beckie! Happy New Year to you and your lovely family also.

  4. I definitely plan to really limit myself in reviewing this year (as I think having another child will help with that anyway haha) because I have so many awesome books on my Kindle that I really want to read!

    1. Why is it so hard to turn down books that interest us, Laura?! And I won't attempt to tell you how many books are on my Kindle! You just enjoy that precious baby that will be here before you know it. I'll be keeping up with you.

  5. Well, I dont think I need to do a top ten list.. I just steal yours and maybe change a couple things. LOL.
I have definitely felt convicted on the difference in time I spend reading God's Word vs Mans (my books).
I am always over committing myself. When will I ever learn!!!
I have quite a few books I would like to read just for fun - although I wouldn't mind reviewing them.

I really enjoy your Erma Bombeck humor as well as your author interviews!!
Keep up the awesome job that you do! And have fun with it!

Your blog is great and always inspires me to do better. :-)

    1. Amy, it's so hard not to overcommit when it comes to books, blogging, etc. You are very special to me and I'm going to take the time to write you soon.

Have you ever read through the Bible in a year? An author named Jodie Bailey is leading a chronological read through on her blog and I'm trying to participate in that. I realize that the important thing is to read the Bible, not necessarily trying to fit it into a year, but I sure would like to do this at least once. I've started so many times that I'm quite familiar with the first few books in the Old Testament!

  6. What a wonderful top 10 list. Fresh Wind Fresh Fire is an amazing book--you will love it! A book that has moved me deeply this past year is Streams in the Desert--it is an amazing devotional that has drawn me deeper to the heart of Jesus. If you are looking for an author to interview I would love an interview!! I am terrible at marketing, so any opportunity to have a little help along the way is greatly appreciated. You can read more about my book and life on my website www.inthecleft.com I think two things I might add to a top ten list are listening to more worship music and writing in my journal daily. Thank you for posting xx

    1. Dana, I read most of Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire several years and loved it - and found it incredibly challenging as well. This is a book I should read every year. And I've actually been to The Brooklyn Tabernacle, an almost indescribable experience. I'm also familiar with Streams in the Desert and plan to use it this year.

Thank you for taking the time to share, Dana. I'm actually behind on my author interviews, reading and everything else - but would love to help you as time allows. Send me an e-mail and we can talk about it.

  7. Stopping by from Inspire Me Monday but I linked up with TTT this week too! One of my goals is to focus more on the books I already have and resist the temptation of Netgalley :) Here are my goals:

    1. Through your blog and Pinterest board, you have tons of great resources that I plan to look into, Tanya. Thank you so much for taking the time to come by. You and I have the same NetGalley problem, which I'm also hoping to get better at. It will be fun to look back at our goals a year from now - or maybe not!
