Top Ten Tuesday - 01.13.2015

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Top Ten 2014 Releases I Wanted to Read but Didn't Get To

Wow! This is downright depressing because it's a new year, filled with new "bookish" enticements, and there's still so much from last year that I've just got to make time for. All are Christian fiction and character driven, my favorite style of writing. If you've read any of these, please share your thoughts.

I'm obviously a bookaholic because I couldn't stop at ten! Maybe I should have been reading instead of compiling this list . . .

The Pursuit of Tamsen Littlejohn by Lori Benton
With Every Breath by Elizabeth Camden
A Broken Kind of Beautiful by Kate Ganshert

Driftwood Tides  by Gina Holmes
Herb of Grace by Adina Senft
A Woodland Miracle by Ruth Reid
The River by Beverly Lewis
Promise to Cherish by Elizabeth Younts
Yankee in Atlanta by Jocelyn Green

Circle of Spies by Roseanna M. White
Just 18 Summers by Renee Gutteridge
The Traitor's Wife by Allison Pataki

The Midwife by Jolina Petersheim
Wildwood Creek by Lisa Wingate
The Road to Testament by Eva Marie Everson
The Advocate by Randy Singer

Now . . . What books from last year are you wanting to read?

  1. Thank you, Christine. I recently discovered how to do a collage and am almost having a little too much fun with them! So glad you dropped by.

  2. Great list of book, Carole! I really liked The Traitor's Wife. I listened to the audiobook for that one. Looking forward to her newest. All of Lisa Wingate's books are good. She is a favorite with my book club. The Road to Testament looks like one I would really like. Everson is also a fav.

    1. Beckie, we have similar tastes, so I'm glad to know you enjoyed The Traitor's Wife. And I loved one of Lisa Wingate's earlier books, so I know she's good. Haven't read Everson yet, but really want to. I've just got to prioritize some of these!

    1. Dawn, I've got Wildwood Creek somewhere on my Kindle. I'm partial to character-driven stories and Lisa Wingate is a favorite. Thanks for taking the time to visit, Dawn.

    1. Loved your list, Shannah! I've read a few of those and the others could be on my "want to read" list as well. Your review of Lori Benton's book was very good. Couldn't get the link to Wildwood Creek to work, though.

By the way, you write the kind of reviews I enjoy most because you separate the description from your thoughts. Thanks for taking the time to come by here, Shannah.

  5. I didn't get to Captured by Love or Love Unexpected by Jody Hedlund... even though she's one of my favorites!

    1. Heidi, Jody Hedlund is one of my favorites also. Captured by Love was really good and I haven't made it to Love Unexpected yet. Thanks for taking the time to comment today. It's always good to see you, Heidi.

  6. I've read With Every Breath, A Broken Kind of Beautiful, and Circle of Spies, from those on this list. I can also say that they were all excellent! They received 5 stars from me on Goodreads. :)
Books I really wanted to read from 2014 are:
Prelude for a Lord by Camille Elliot
    Sway by Amy Mayato
    A Proper Marriage Dorothy
The Eyes of E'veria series by Serena Chase (I actually have the first one on my Kindle)
And The Wrangler's Inconvenient Wife by Lacy Williams
There are bound to be a few others that have slipped my mind.

    1. Sarah, there are probably several that have slipped your mind! LOL!

I've loved other books by Camden and have read the previous books in Roseanna White's series, but have yet to read anything by Ganshert, much to my regret. Of the books you mentioned, Prelude for a Lord is one I want to read. You probably knew this, but I didn't realize until recently that Camille Elliot was also Camy Tang.

    2. I actually didn't know that until just a few weeks ago. I read about it in an interview, I think. I've never read any of Camy's books, so I wouldn't have figured that out, anyway. :)
Oh, I love Katie's books! Though you will need a box of tissues whenever you read one of hers. They tend to make me cry, which almost never happens. I'm not a crier, so the book has to be excellent at evoking emotions for me to tear up while reading it. I'm eagerly anticipating her next book, which I want to say releases in April. *sigh* So long to wait. Guess I'll just have to dig through my ever growing TBR pile and occupy myself until then. ;)

  8. Not sure if my comment made it on here, so if this is a repeat, sorry!

If you have any room on your to-read list for this year, definitely try to get to The Pursuit of Tamsen Littlejohn, A Broken Kind of Beautiful and The Midwife - all were favorites of mine last year! :)

    1. Beth, I loved Jolina Petersheim's first book and The Midwife is waiting for me on my Kindle. But room? On my to-read list?! LOL! Benton and Ganshert are at the top of my list to read as soon as I can make time and you have my permission to keep bugging me!

  9. I hear you. So many books, so little time. Driftwood Tides is on sale right now btw at Lifeway (in stores and online) for just 5.00 if anyone's interested. Are making those collages easy?

    1. Gina, you write stories that are not only excellent quality, but very relevant, and I thank you for taking the time to comment. I'll write you, probably through Facebook, about the collages.

  10. I read only four of the books on your list, A Broken Kind of Beautiful, The Pursuit of Tamsen Littlejohn, Yankee in Atlanta, and Circle of Spies and I loved them all! I hope you get the chance to read them this year!

    1. Thank you for sharing, Abbi. When I do a list like this, I get frustrated because I don't read all that fast and there's just not enough time. Maybe I should be a little more selective in my reading! I'm glad to know you enjoyed those four books and hope to make time for them soon.
