Top Ten Books on My Summer TBR List

It's Tuesday - time for another Top Ten list! It is so much fun to make these lists and to check out other bloggers' lists also. Who knew? Thank you to The Broke and the Bookish for hosting this great meme!

Top Ten Books on My Summer TBR List

Books like these are what makes reviewing so much fun! Several of these are by authors that I've read before and loved, but a few are new to me - Kristy Cambron, Julie Cantrell, Rene Gutteridge, and Michelle Cox. Did any of these make your list? Read any already? What are some books that you are anticipating? Please share!

Books are listed by the authors' last names.

The Butterfly and the Violin by Kristy Cambron

Into the Free by Julie Cantrell

The Revealing by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Love's Fortune by Laura Frantz

Love Comes Home by Ann H. Gabhart

Saving Amelie by Cathy Gohlke

Just 18 Summers by Rene Gutteridge and Michelle Cox

Captured by Love by Jody Hedlund

The Midwife by Jolina Petersheim

The Hatmaker's Heart by Carla Stewart

  1. You have some great books there. You are going to like Into The Free -- it was great. I have Petersheim's first book, The Outcast, on audiobook. Trying to decide if it is going to be my beach listen this weekend. Can't wait to see what you think of these books.

    1. Beckie, what beach are you going to? Trying not to be envious here. There's a chance that my daughter will be here for a week toward the end of July (flying under the rarar, as she calls it, so that churches that support her won't know she's here). Anyway, if it works out, she would love for us to go to Panama City for 3-4 days. But I'm not holding my breath for that to work out!

I'm sure I will like Into the Free, and can't believe I haven't read it yet. The Outcast was fabulous, although I can't imagine doing it as an audiobook. I've tried, but never been able to keep up when listening to those.

    1. Thank you, Terra. I believe these are all books that I've committed to reviewing, but since they all seem to be my favorite type, character-driven drama, that's a good thing! Hope you're enjoying your summer and finding lots of time to read.

  3. These books look up my alley even though they are new to me. Saving Amelia and The Midwife look especially amazing!

And I love your title photo!

    1. Gillian, I'm in the middle of Saving Amelie and it's one of the best books I've ever read. The whole World War II/Holocaust thing, but with a focus on eugenics. Highly entertaining and thought provoking.

You've got some books that look good on your blog also. One of my author friends mentioned just today how good All Fall Down was. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is on my Kindle, but I haven't had time to read it yet. I got involved in reviewing a lot of Christian fiction and haven't had time for much else. Now you've got me wanting to read some of these!

Glad you like my banner photo, Gillian. I've been a church pianist for almost 50 years and this picture, entitled "Forgotten Tunes," really resonates with me because it makes me think of all the beautiful hymns that are rarely sung today.

  4. I want to read Into the Free. Have it, just haven't had a chance to read it. It is definitely on my summer reading list as well as the sequel. Also want to read Saving Amelia, but dont have it, so library or other means maybe.... I wanted to read the Outcast, It looked soo good, I bet the midwife is too. Some of the others I had not heard about. What a fun thing to do - list your summer reads. Enjoy!! I am still compiling mine I guess you could say. So many to choose from. Our pool is full now though and so I am enjoying just sitting out there reading and watching the kids. Maybe I will get all caught up :-)

    1. Amy, my reading list is pretty much dictated by review commitments, but I'm getting better at choosing books that really interest me. Whatever you do, read Saving Amelia. It's one of the best books ever! And there's just something special about Jolina's writing. The Outcast was a favorite and I can already tell The Midwife is going to be just as good, if not better.

Would love to have a pool to read by! Enjoy your summer with your family, Amy.

    1. Oh, you don't know the half of it, Jolina! I'm not only reviewing it, but Shaina has me helping with publicity for your giveaway. I've got to finish another book first, but I read a few chapters and already find it hauntingly beautiful.
